Selling Across India and the GCC: A Practical Market-Entry Checklist
What changes between India and the Gulf markets for paid media, creative, data rules and local partners.
Choose the first market on evidence
Start with one market where you can already serve customers well: delivery, payment methods, support hours and language. A narrow first launch gives cleaner data than several half-funded ones.
The platform mix is not the same
WhatsApp is central to buying journeys in both regions, which makes click-to-chat campaigns valuable. Snapchat is widely used in parts of the GCC. TikTok is not available in India. Plan the mix market by market rather than copying one plan across all of them.
Language and creative
Arabic and English audiences in the Gulf, and many regional languages in India, respond to different tone, imagery and offers. Translation alone is rarely enough; test local creative with local reviewers.
Data and advertising rules
India's DPDP Act, the UAE's PDPL and Europe's GDPR each affect how you collect leads and use tracking. Healthcare, finance, real estate and some other categories also carry extra advertising rules. Confirm requirements with a local adviser before launch.
Payments, fulfilment and support
Cash on delivery, local wallets and card preferences differ by market, and so do delivery expectations. Ads that outrun operations produce refunds and poor reviews.
Use people on the ground
Local partners can handle introductions, compliance, language and after-sales care. That is why we work with channel partners, and why this checklist ends with a partner conversation.
Method and limits
This note is a practitioner framework drawn from our audit and campaign work. It contains no client data and no invented statistics. Platforms change often, so confirm current features and rules for your market.
